Day One: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport or get picked up from your Kigali hotel in the morning. Begin your journey with a visit to the poignant Kigali Genocide Memorial, delving into the historical events of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Following this, proceed to Volcanoes National Park, a 2-3 hour drive. Check-in at your lodge, unwind, dine, and spend the night in anticipation of the adventures ahead.
Day Two: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Commence the day with a hot beverage before joining fellow trekkers at Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing on Gorilla trekking guidelines. Embark on a trek to encounter one habituated Gorilla family, accompanied by an armed park ranger guide and trackers. The trek, lasting 2 to 6 hours, includes an awe-inspiring hour spent in the presence of the Gorillas. Return to the lodge and, in the afternoon/evening, enjoy a nature walk to the Twin Lakes – Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo.
Day Three: Transfer to the Democratic Republic of Congo
