When to Book Your Gorilla Trekking Tour

The best time to book your gorilla trekking adventure is between June and September each year. It’s essential to plan ahead—ideally a year in advance—to secure your gorilla permits, as they sell out quickly. If you’re ready to book, please share your preferred travel dates with us, and we’ll confirm the availability of gorilla permits for Bwindi Impenetrable or Mgahinga National Parks.

Once we confirm availability, we’ll notify you immediately via email. If you decide to proceed, you’ll be directed to make a payment for your gorilla permit. Trek Africa Expeditions accepts payments via bank transfer, wire transfer, or debit/credit cards (note: a surcharge applies for card payments).

To secure your booking, you’ll need to pay for your gorilla permits in full, and the balance for the rest of the safari must be settled three weeks before your trip.

Please note that the gorilla permit covers your park entry fee, a ranger guide, and a tourism police officer for security. Gorilla Habituation Experience Option

If you prefer a more in-depth gorilla experience, we also offer the Gorilla Habituation Experience permit, allowing you to spend up to four hours with mountain gorillas in the southern regions of Bwindi. This experience gives you more time to observe the gorillas and learn about their behavior and conservation efforts. Note that this option is available in specific regions of Bwindi, and the cost is slightly higher than a standard gorilla permit.

You can choose to fly into either Kigali (Rwanda) or Entebbe (Uganda) for your gorilla trek. Many travelers prefer Kigali due to its proximity to Bwindi and the shorter drive to the park. However, flying into Entebbe offers a scenic drive through Uganda’s stunning landscapes.
