Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali and Transfer to Bukima, Congo
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport. After a quick safari briefing by your guide, you’ll begin the scenic drive towards the Rwanda–Congo border. The journey takes around 4 hours, passing through lush Rwandan countryside and vibrant towns before reaching Goma town, where you’ll stop for lunch.
After lunch, continue the journey to Bukima, the main base for gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park. Here, you’ll check in to your lodge and settle in for the evening. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and soaking in the natural beauty of the surroundings, getting ready for the thrilling experience ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
After an early breakfast at your lodge, your driver-guide will take you to the Virunga National Park headquarters in Bukima. Here, you’ll receive a detailed briefing about the rules and expectations for your gorilla trekking adventure, and you’ll be assigned a gorilla family group to track.
With your experienced park ranger leading the way, you’ll set off into the misty forests of Virunga. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you’ll spend a magical one hour quietly observing the gorillas as they eat, play, groom, and interact—an intimate and awe-inspiring experience that words can hardly capture.
After the trek, you’ll return to your lodge to relax and reflect on your incredible day.

Day 3: Return to Kigali and End of Tour

Once in Kigali, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel for post-tour accommodation or directly at the airport, depending on your travel plans. This marks the end of your short but unforgettable gorilla trekking safari in Congo.
