Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park
Your adventure begins as your safari guide meets you at Kigali International Airport or your hotel. After a short briefing, you’ll embark on a Kigali city tour, where you’ll visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, vibrant local markets, and the bustling city center. The city tour offers a glimpse into Rwanda’s history, culture, and progress.
After the city tour, set off for Akagera National Park, located in the eastern part of the country, bordering Tanzania. The drive takes you through picturesque rural landscapes and rolling hills, showcasing the natural beauty of Rwanda. Upon arrival, check-in to your lodge and relax before heading out for an evening game drive.
Akagera National Park is known for its varied ecosystems, including wetlands, savannahs, and woodlands, which attract a wide range of wildlife. Your evening game drive will give you a first look at the park’s incredible biodiversity, including animals like elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Start the day early with a morning game drive through Akagera National Park. As the park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, this is the perfect opportunity to see the Big 5 (elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos). You’ll also spot a variety of herbivores, like zebras and impalas, as well as predators such as hyenas and crocodiles.
After a late breakfast, you have the option to go for a nature walk or simply relax at the lodge, soaking in the natural surroundings. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful boat cruise on Lake Ihema—the second-largest lake in Rwanda. This scenic cruise provides a chance to observe hippos and crocodiles basking in the sun, and you’ll also spot a variety of water birds like kingfishers and herons.
Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on your exciting day filled with wildlife and nature.
