Today is the highlight of your safari—mountain gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, head to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety.
You’ll be assigned a gorilla family group and guided by expert rangers deep into the Virunga forest. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but once you find them, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour quietly observing these gentle giants—watching them feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.
This is one of the most transformative wildlife encounters on Earth.
After your trek, return to your lodge to relax and celebrate your achievement.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking + Return to Kigali
After breakfast, return to the park for another magical experience—golden monkey tracking. These playful primates live in the bamboo zones of Volcanoes National Park and are endemic to the Virunga Mountains.
The trek is generally shorter and easier than gorilla trekking, and you’ll enjoy watching their colorful antics, social behavior, and energetic tree-hopping.
After the trek, return to Kigali (approximately 2.5–3 hours). Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Kimironko Market, or enjoy a local lunch before your airport drop-off or hotel transfer.

You will then be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your departure, marking the end of your 5 Days Rwanda Primates Safari.
