Day 1: Pick Up in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your 2-day gorilla trekking journey begins with an early morning pickup from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali. Your professional driver-guide will brief you on the adventure ahead, and then you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in southwestern Uganda.
Depending on the sector of Bwindi you are trekking in, you’ll cross into Uganda via the Cyanika Border (near Kisoro) or Katuna Border (near Kabale). The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, passing through the rolling green hills of Rwanda and into the lush highlands of Uganda.
Midday:
Arrive at your lodge in Bwindi, check in, and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch.
Afternoon (Optional):
After settling in, you may choose to take a community walk to interact with the local Batwa people or go on a guided nature walk to explore the edges of the forest. These optional activities offer insight into the region’s culture, traditions, and biodiversity.
Evening:
Enjoy dinner and a relaxed evening at your lodge, resting up for the thrilling gorilla trek the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Return to Kigali
Today is the highlight of your safari – gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Early Morning:
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters by 7:00 AM for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll be grouped with other trekkers and assigned to a specific habituated gorilla family.
Morning to Early Afternoon:
The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. As you hike through dense forest, your guide will point out unique plants, birdlife, and possibly other primates along the way.
Once you find the gorilla family, you’ll be allowed one magical hour to observe them in their natural habitat. Watch as they feed, groom, and interact—an awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After the Trek:
Return to your lodge for a hot lunch and a chance to refresh before beginning your journey back to Kigali.
Mid-Afternoon:
Drive back across the border into Rwanda, arriving in Kigali between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport for your flight home or onward travel.
