Discover Mgahinga Gorilla National Park:

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, though the smallest of Uganda’s ten national parks, is a hidden gem filled with scenic wonders and diverse wildlife. Located in the southwestern region of Uganda, it sits atop the clouds, with elevations ranging from 2,227 meters to 4,127 meters. Nestled in Kisoro district, this national park spans 33.7 square kilometers and is home to the endangered Mountain Gorilla species. A unique feature of this park is the harmonious coexistence of Gorillas and Golden Monkeys, often referred to as “Where Gold meets Silver.”

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is a vital part of the expansive Virunga Conservation Area, encompassing adjacent regions in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. To the south, it borders Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, while the western boundary adjoins the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park boasts a rich tapestry of ecosystems and biodiversity, with its majestic peaks providing a breathtaking backdrop to the stunning landscape.

Fly to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park:

Traditionally, Gorilla safaris to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park involved lengthy road trips, deterring many travelers from visiting this unique destination. However, with the option of flying, access has become more convenient, making it an appealing choice for those seeking to explore this less-crowded park. Flying from Entebbe is a breeze, taking only about one and a half hours to reach Kisoro Airstrip via operators like Aerolink and Fly Uganda, both renowned in the region for their reliability. Upon landing at Kisoro Airstrip, our knowledgeable driver-guide will be readily available to pick you up and transfer you to your pre-booked accommodation for the night. It’s essential to note that weather conditions around Kisoro can be unpredictable, especially given its proximity to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks. As such, all flights are scheduled for the morning when the weather is typically calm. Afternoons can become windy, making flying unfavorable during that time. Occasionally, flights may make brief stops at Kihihi Airstrip in Buhoma, the northern part of Bwindi Forest, or Kasese Airstrip to pick up or drop off clients en route.
