Guidelines for a Harmonious Interaction with Mountain Gorillas
Respect and harmony underpin the guidelines for Mountain Gorilla habituation, akin to those governing Mountain Gorilla trekking:
- Adhering to ranger guide instructions unfailingly.
- Staying within the group to avoid separation.
- Maintaining a hushed presence to honor the forest’s tranquility.
- Ensuring a safe distance of 7 meters from Mountain Gorillas.
- Refraining from mimicking Gorilla behaviors.
- Avoiding flash photography to minimize disruption.
- Abstaining from habituation when unwell to safeguard Gorilla health.
Embarking on this adventure necessitates robust physical fitness, as the Gorilla habituation experience spans an entire day, trailing a Mountain Gorilla group through mountainous terrain. To facilitate this journey, porters are available for hire to assist with luggage or, if necessary, transport tourists on stretchers.
