Safari Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly received by a Trek Africa Expeditions representative. Relax and unwind at the Guest House in Entebbe, overnight at Airport Link Guest House.
Day 2 – Transfer to Buhoma Region – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, embark on an 8-9 hours’ scenic drive to the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. En-route stops at the Equator and Mbarara town provide opportunities for photography and lunch. Arrive in Buhoma in the late evening, check-in at Ride 4 a Woman lodge, and enjoy dinner.
Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking in Buhoma Region
Experience the highlight of your safari with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a briefing at the park headquarters, embark on a guided walk into the rainforest to encounter mountain gorillas. Spend a magical hour with these magnificent creatures before returning to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Cycling the Monkey Trail from Buhoma to Ruhija (56KM)
Embark on a challenging ride on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, traversing small tracks through rural areas and wide dirt roads through the forest. Marvel at the views and scenery, with a chance to encounter monkeys. Conclude your ride at 2300M, overnight at Broad Bill Tented Camp.
Day 5 – Cycling from Ruhija to Lake Bunyonyi (39KM)
Ride along Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, descending towards civilization. Encounter hills before reaching Lake Bunyonyi, where terraced fields showcase the Switzerland of Africa. Lunch and overnight at Birdnest Resort.
Day 6 – Cycling from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mutanda in Kisoro
Embark on a 60KM ride along the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and terraced fields. Follow a meandering scenic road, passing through the highlands of Kigezi. Lunch and relaxation at Lake Mutanda Lake Resort.
Day 7 – Golden Monkey Trekking – Cycling in Kisoro Town
Engage in a golden monkey trekking experience, resembling gorilla trekking. Followed by an afternoon cycling adventure through steep hills and narrow valleys, exploring natural streams and rivers. Return to Mutanda Lake Resort for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Riding from Kisoro to Musanze (56KM)
Commence your ride, crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border via the Cyanika border. Continue to Musanze-Ruhengeri town for lunch and relaxation. Overnight at La Palme Hotel.
Days 9 – Cycling the Congo Nile Trail – Gisenyi, Lake Kivu
Embark on a cycling journey along the adventurous Congo Nile trail, offering spectacular views of the point that separates the watersheds for the River Nile and River Congo. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Kivu. Overnight at Serena Lake Kivu.
Day 10 – Transfer to Kigali International Airport
Conclude your adventure with a drive to Kigali, depending on your departure flight. Reflect on the memories of your 10-day Rwanda & Uganda Gorilla-Cycling safari.
