Detailed Itinerary

Day One: Arrival, Pickup, and Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel or from Entebbe/Kigali International Airports by our knowledgeable driver guide, who will provide a comprehensive briefing about your safari to ensure your expectations align with the itinerary. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in South-Western Uganda. En route, you’ll make captivating stopovers: first at the Drum makers, where you’ll witness the craftsmanship involved in creating traditional drums from animal skins, followed by a visit to the Equator line for photography and informative discussions. A satisfying lunch awaits you in Mbarara city before you continue your journey. You’ll traverse the diverse landscapes of Ntungamo’s flatlands, Kabale’s rolling hills, terraced hills, and winding roads. Finally, you’ll arrive at your lodge, where you can unwind, dine, and settle in for the night.

Day Two: Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

After an early breakfast, our driver guide will escort you to the National Park offices. Here, you’ll undergo a thorough briefing and registration process, ensuring your eligibility for the Mountain Gorilla trek. With all the necessary details in order, you’ll be guided into the forest to locate the specific Mountain Gorilla family allocated to your group. Upon finding them, you’ll have the extraordinary privilege of spending time in their presence, a truly unforgettable experience. Following your gorilla encounter, you’ll return to the Park offices for a graduation ceremony, during which you’ll receive a certificate to commemorate your successful Gorilla tracking adventure. The day concludes as you return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and another comfortable night.

Day Three: Golden Monkey Tracking Experience in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Following an early breakfast, you’ll head back to the National Park for either a full-day Golden monkey experience or a half-day Golden monkey tracking adventure. Once briefed, you’ll venture into the forest. If you opt for Golden monkey habituation, you’ll have the unique opportunity to spend extended time with these captivating creatures, gaining insights from researchers. Alternatively, you can choose the standard Golden monkey tracking, allowing one hour with these delightful primates. Regardless of your choice, you’ll return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and a well-deserved rest.

Day Four: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s Deepest Lake.

After breakfast, you’ll journey to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district, famed as the deepest lake in Uganda. Lake Bunyonyi offers an idyllic setting to unwind after your Gorilla and Golden monkey tracking adventures. Here, you’ll partake in a boat cruise to explore the lake’s 29 islands, each with its unique history and charm. You may also opt for a scenic hike in the surrounding hills or indulge in birdwatching to soak in the beauty of this natural haven.

Day Five: Departure from Entebbe/Kigali International Airport.
