Your adventure begins with a pick-up from anywhere in Kasese. You’ll commence a scenic drive to either Mgahinga Gorilla National Park or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, both of which are home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Depending on your departure time from Kasese, you may make a lunch stop at Great Lakes Museum before continuing your journey. Along the way, you’ll pass through the border town of Kabale, offering breathtaking views of the lush Kigezi rolling highlands. Arrive at your destination in time for dinner and an overnight stay.
Wake up to an early breakfast on day two, and be sure to pack your lunch. Your driver-guide will take you to the National Park offices for registration and a briefing about the guidelines for your time in the forest. This is when your guide will help you choose a gorilla family to visit, taking into account your fitness level and interests. Please note that gorillas often change locations as they search for food, so the selection is not guaranteed.
Embark on your trek through the forest in search of the gorillas. Once you find them, you’ll have the privilege of spending one hour observing, following, and capturing photos and videos of these magnificent creatures. Afterward, return to the briefing center, where you will receive a certificate recognizing your efforts in conserving mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Finally, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and another peaceful night’s rest.
Day three marks the leisurely drive back to Kasese, concluding your 3-day budget Gorilla safari with Trek Africa Expeditions.
