Broadbill Forest Camp in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers a unique and immersive experience in the heart of Uganda’s Eastern jungle. Situated on the eastern side of the national park, Ruhija is home to four gorilla families: Bitukura, Oruzogo, Mukiza, and Kyaguriro. While Kyaguriro family was initially habituated for research purposes, only eight visitors per day are allowed to visit, and this requires prior permission from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Getting to Ruhija Sector:

Ruhija is strategically positioned between Buhoma sector to the north and Kibale to the east, allowing easy access from various directions. It is approximately 218 km from Queen Elizabeth National Park. By road, one can reach Ruhija from Entebbe/Kampala via Kabale or from Kampala via Rukungiri, Kihihi, and Butogota before reaching Ruhija. The journey demands a 4×4 vehicle due to the rough and muddy terrain. Alternatively, by air, there is no direct flight to Ruhija, but flying to Kihihi airstrip followed by a two-hour drive is an option.

Nestled in Ruhija, Broadbill Forest Camp provides a budget-friendly yet comfortable accommodation arrangement. The camp features tents placed on raised wooden floors with grass-thatched roofs, ensuring an eco-friendly stay. With four tents offering self-contained washrooms and options for twin, double, and single room arrangements, the camp caters to various preferences.

The main building at Broadbill Forest Camp houses the restaurant and bar, creating a communal space for guests. In the evening, a fire is lit at the fireplace, enhancing the wilderness experience with the ambiance of a typical African night.
