Embark on an extraordinary adventure with our Driving Gorilla Safaris to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a scenic journey that allows you to immerse yourself in the breathtaking countryside of Uganda while anticipating the awe-inspiring experience of trekking Bwindi’s mountain gorillas. Similar to the iconic wildebeest migration in Kenya and Tanzania, encountering these apes promises an unparalleled adventure safari in the heart of Africa.
Upon your arrival in Entebbe, our guide, provided at no extra charge, will pick you up from your hotel, whether booked directly or through Trek Africa Expeditions. A comprehensive briefing by our representative awaits, offering insights into the entire round trip, including stops and the gorilla trekking experience on the day you venture into the majestic Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Commence your journey after an early morning breakfast, heading to South-Western Uganda via the picturesque Masaka-Mbarara highway. A stopover at the Equator provides a perfect opportunity for photography. En route, relish panoramic views of Lake Mburo National Park’s open savannah plains, where glimpses of impalas and zebras may grace your sight. Lunch in Mbarara precedes an exploration of the beautiful Kigezi hills in Western Uganda before reaching your booked lodge.
Note: Bwindi offers four gorilla tracking zones: Buhoma in the north, Ruhija in the east, Rushaga in the lower south, and Nkuringo in the upper south. The choice depends on your gorilla permits, and each drive provides excellent views of the country.
After breakfast, assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers on proper conduct during your time with the gorillas. Set off around 9:00 am along the trails to track these endangered mountain gorillas, carrying a packed lunch as the duration varies between 2-9 hours based on the primates’ movement. Despite the challenging terrain, encountering the mountain gorillas erases any hardships you endured in the quest to find them. Return to the park offices for the gorilla trekking certificate, followed by lunch and relaxation at your lodge.
In the evening, indulge in a community walk to the nearby Batwa community, where captivating tales of their unique culture await. Overnight at your lodge.
Following your morning breakfast, embark on the journey back to Kampala, with stopovers for photography at the Equator Line Mark and lunch. Arrive late in the evening, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight or to the airport for departure.
Alternatively, clients may opt to transfer to Kigali, a 4-hour drive from Bwindi, or take affordable domestic flights from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro. For flight information, contact Trek Africa Expeditions.
