How to Get to Buhoma Lodge

Buhoma Lodge, located on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, can be accessed via road or air transport. The road network leading to the lodge is excellent, ensuring safe passage. Travel time by road varies depending on the starting point. From Entebbe, the journey takes approximately 8-9 hours, while it takes 4-5 hours from Kigali, Rwanda. Buhoma Lodge is also accessible from neighboring national parks, making it an excellent addition to your itinerary. The lodge is just a 2-hour drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park, a 6-hour drive from Lake Mburo National Park, and a 2-hour drive from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Buhoma Lodge is also accessible by air, with daily flights departing from Entebbe Airport and Kajansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip. From Kihihi airstrip, it is approximately a one-hour drive to reach Buhoma Lodge by road. There are three daily flights from Entebbe Airport to Kihihi, departing at 7am, 10:15am, and 12:00pm. The flight time is 1 hour and 45 minutes, and once you arrive at Kihihi airstrip, you will be transferred to Buhoma Lodge. The one-way flight fare to Kihihi is USD 283, while a return flight costs USD 472.

Personal filming and photography of mountain gorillas during the trek is allowed at no extra charge. You can use your personal video, digital, or SLR cameras to capture the breathtaking moments while on your trek. After the trek, you can also take photos and videos in the communities or around the lodge. However, if you are a professional filmmaker or doing commercial filming, you need to make an advance booking and fulfill the required procedures to be allowed to carry out filming during your safari.
