Nevertheless, this group has provided valuable insights into the lives of Bwindi’s mountain gorillas. Originally led by the aging silverback Zeus, the group’s leadership dynamics shifted after his banishment by his rival Rukina.
3. Oruzogo Gorilla Family: The Ruhija region is also home to the Oruzogo family, boasting 23 individuals led by Silverback Tibirikwata. Since opening for tourism in the mid-2011, the family has experienced growth through numerous births, resulting in its current composition of 11 individuals and 3 silverbacks.
4. Mukiza Gorilla Family: Emerging from the splintering of the Kyaguliro group, the Mukiza family stands as a testament to the ever-evolving dynamics of gorilla families. With 9 individuals and 1 silverback, this family adds another layer of intrigue to the region’s biodiversity.
