Located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Nkuringo Orphanage and Bright Future School is a unique initiative in Uganda that provides education and care to vulnerable children, including orphans. Founded by Arthur Kajubwami in 2005, the school began with just 10 students and has grown to over 300 children today. Arthur’s concern for children who were being overworked, living on the streets, or forced to leave home due to family illness or tragedy led to the creation of this important institution.
The school offers both standard education and vocational training in skills like tailoring, beekeeping, farming, and animal care. These skills are crucial for students as they prepare for life beyond school, offering them a chance to build a future outside of farming.
How You Can Support Nkuringo Orphanage and Bright Future School
At Trek Africa Expeditions, we offer travelers the opportunity to support Nkuringo Orphanage and Bright Future School. There are various ways to make a difference, from donating money to providing school supplies, clothing, or sports equipment. Some visitors even choose to volunteer, spending a day teaching English or other valuable skills to the children. These acts of kindness give hope to the orphans and students, and the impact is felt deeply by both the children and the community.
Many of our clients, after visiting the school, often return with a desire to help. They contribute in various ways, such as funding desks for the students or sending donations to improve the children’s lives.
Sponsor a Child at Nkuringo Orphanage and Bright Future School
One of the most effective ways to help the children at Nkuringo Orphanage is by sponsoring a child. Many children at the orphanage are orphans or come from vulnerable backgrounds, and sponsorship can provide them with an education and a brighter future. With more than 230 orphans in need of support, not all children can attend the school due to financial constraints. A small monthly contribution can significantly change a child’s life by covering their school fees, accommodation, and basic needs.
