Trip Itinerary

Day One:

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from Trek Africa Expeditions will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Set on the shores of Lake Victoria, Entebbe invites exploration with its markets, botanical gardens, and the option for a relaxing boat safari on Lake Victoria. Unwind at the hotel, taking advantage of the swimming pool, spa treatments, or the hotel gym, setting the stage for an unforgettable safari.

Day Two:

Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for a short flight to Mweya Airfield, initiating the exploration of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Home to diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, hippos, and buffalo, this park’s riverine and savannah habitats offer a rich safari experience. Enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural link between Lake Edward and Lake George, revealing lazy buffalo herds, wallowing hippos, and a myriad of bird species. The next two nights will be spent at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, an intimate retreat on a tranquil riverbank.

Day Three:

A leisure day unfolds, allowing you to immerse yourself in game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Keep a keen eye out for vast herds of buffalo, majestic elephants, and the iconic tree-climbing lions native to the area.

Day Four:

Embark on a picturesque 2-3 hour drive through scenic landscapes, arriving at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Home to over 120 mammal species, 345 bird species, and approximately half of the world’s endangered Mountain Gorillas, Bwindi is a conservation treasure. Wake up to the melodious chatter of forest bird species, occasionally visited by Mountain Gorillas near the lodge.

Day Five:

Prepare for an awe-inspiring encounter as you come face to face with endangered Mountain Gorillas. Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a strenuous yet profoundly rewarding experience, with the chance to spend an hour quietly observing these gentle giants. Return to the lodge for relaxation or explore the surrounding Bwindi community, with optional activities including forest walks and visits to local schools, orphanages, or the Batwa pygmy village.

Day Six:

Embark on a scenic journey through the ‘Little Switzerland of Africa,’ traversing winding mountain roads and rural villages to reach the Rwanda border in Kisoro. The Virungas, dormant volcanoes, stand sentinel along the border on clear days. The day involves approximately 7-8 hours on the road, including a 1-hour border crossing. Upon entering Rwanda, continue to the Volcanoes National Park.

Day Seven:

Trekking Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park mirrors the challenge and thrill of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Whether trekking or opting for a hike to Dian Fossey’s grave or a forest walk tracking Golden Monkeys, the morning is filled with captivating experiences. Pre-booking is essential for these activities, and the afternoon is free for relaxation.

Day Eight:

After lunch, journey to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, a bustling, clean, and safe city. Optionally visit the Genocide Memorial Centre before concluding the safari.
