Upon arrival at Beach Ngobila Airport in Kinshasa, you’ll be greeted by an Trek Africa Expeditions representative and transferred to your hotel for a briefing and orientation. Overnight stay at Léon Hotel or Similar.
Explore Kinshasa’s vibrant culture and history with a guided tour of the city, delving into local landmarks, bustling markets, and the banks of the Congo River. Highlights include visits to the National Museum, Kabila’s Mausoleum, and the Place of Independence. You’ll also have the opportunity to witness the unique Congolese Dandies known as Sapeurs, experiencing the importance of physical appearance and attire. Enjoy lunch at Chez Flore Restaurant before returning to your hotel for rest and overnight.
Depart from Ngafura port in Maluku for Tshumbiri, experiencing the Congo River’s traffic and inhabitants during a 2-day navigation. Participate in traditional fishing activities along the way, immersing yourself in the local culture. Overnight stay at Menko village.
Continue your journey to Tshumbiri after breakfast, arriving in the afternoon. Transfer by jeep to Nkala, where you’ll spend the evening and night in a tent, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Congo wilderness.
Begin your day early, awakening at 5 a.m. to embark on an exhilarating trek through the wild forest in search of bonobos. Bring along your breakfast as you venture into the heart of bonobo territory. Trek through the lush greenery, guided by experienced trackers, in pursuit of these fascinating primates. After an immersive experience with the bonobos, return to the village around noon. Following lunch, enjoy a courtesy visit to the chiefdom and a tour of the village, where you’ll have the opportunity to encounter the Téké people. In the late afternoon, attend a captivating show featuring the famous folklore Ekoul balow. Return to camp around 6:30 p.m., where you can optionally engage in a discussion with the staff of the NGO Mbomou tour. Spend the night in a tent or at the Mbomou tour inn.
