This 14 Day Best of East Africa Safari is a cross-border trip and it takes you exploring the immersive treasures of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda each with its own unique look, wildlife and landscape. You will visit the classic African safari wildlife parks like Amboseli, Lake Manyara (Tree climbing lions), Serengeti National Park (great migration) – vast herds of wildebeest & zebra moving on to Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya and Ngorongoro Crater. You will overland over into Uganda to meet man’s closest relatives, the chimpanzee and mountain gorilla, which will be the highlight of the whole trip.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli
You’ll start the Highlights of Kenya & Tanzania Safari with a drive towards Amboseli National Park. Arrive at Amboseli national park and take a rest and later venture into the park for the scheduled afternoon game viewing drive in search of Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Lion, Cheetah, Warthog, Ostrich and many others. Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the skyline and surrounding country side, it is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. The snow – capped peaks dominate the background while we marvel at the wildlife and scenery.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park
Early pre-breakfast game viewing drive at the national park, Weather permitting the clouds will shear off, leaving you mesmerized by the majesty of the Kilimanjaro and its gleaming snowcapped peaks.

Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Manyara: (320 kms: 5-6 hrs drive with Stops)
Early pre-breakfast Highlights of Kenya & Tanzania Safari game viewing drive in search of the predators and grazers as you exit Amboseli. Proceed on the cross-border drive into Tanzania, with immigration formalities at the Namanga (Kenya / Tanzania) border town. The scenic drive is via Masai country, distinct climatic zones and social regions.
Lunch shall be at the Arusha town of Tanzania then proceed to Lake Manyara for game viewing in search of the famous tree climbing lions and large flocks of flamingos.

Day 4: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park (215 kms, Appx. 4 hrs)
Early wonderful sunrise views as you enjoy breakfast at your Lake Manyara accommodation and later depart for Serengeti National Park via the Olduvai Gorge where we will visit various sites of the Gorge to see where the remains of pre-historic man were discovered.

Day 5: Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
The Day shall be spent at Serengeti National Park on game viewing drives. The Serengeti game reserve is overwhelmingly large – the variety and concentration of game is awesome and the regions are climatically varied and this we experience as we traverse the plains in search of the “BIG 5”.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro National Park (160km -3hrs)
Start this Highlights of Kenya & Tanzania Safari day with a another drive from Serengeti National Park with picnic lunches and game viewing drives en-route as you descend (600M) into the floor of the Ngorongoro crater. It shall be almost a full day of awesome Highlights of Kenya & Tanzania Safari game viewing drive with picnic lunch break at Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. The Game volume and concentration is left to your imagination. Later ascend to the crater rim for magnificent sunset views.

Day 7: Ngorongoro National to Arusha then to Nairobi
After breakfast –depart for Arusha then proceed to Nairobi via the Namanga border town and Arrive Nairobi in the early evening

Day 8: Transfer to Giraffe Center and later to Uganda
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport with a stopover at the giraffe center in Langata old Mombasa road. You will participate in feeding the giraffes and appreciate the conservation work at the center then transfer to Jomo Kenyatta airport where you’ll catch your next flight to Entebbe in Uganda to complete the African Savanna Experience Safari highlights.

Day 9: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park (6-7 Hrs)
After a relaxed breakfast we will depart Entebbe and head west to Fort Portal, with lunch en route. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bogodi Swamp Walk
Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest National Park is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others. After a hearty lunch we transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for another, totally different nature walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates.

Day 11: Kibale – Bwindi National Park (4-5 Hrs)
After breakfast we head towards the south, passing the southern sector of the national park (if road conditions allow). This part is called Ishasha and is famous for the tree climbing lions. After a short game drive in this area we continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. While driving through a verdant countryside, you will pass traditional homesteads and enjoy panoramic views. In the afternoon arrival in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Day 12: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest. A unique and unforgettable experience!. Those who prefer not to participate in the gorilla tracking can go for a guided forest walk or explore the surroundings with the Buhoma Village Walk.

Day 13: The Batwa Trail
Although Bwindi is mainly known for the gorillas it has a lot more to offer. Today you will enjoy the Batwa Trail, a firsthand introduction to one of the most unique cultures worldwide. The Batwa pygmies are a forest people displaced from the rain forest they shared with mountain gorillas. This experience will give you the opportunity to learn more about their age old culture while you enjoy a hike with the Batwa guides, see how they lived and hunted, hear ancient legends and learn about medical plants. The revenue generated from these activities directly benefits the Batwa to strengthen their community.
