This Gorillas and Chimpanzee Safari will give you a double trek in the presence of the endangered mountain gorillas since most travelers are not satisfied with just one gorilla viewing, the behind the scenes of chimpanzee viewing at Ngamba Island Sanctuary and later on a Chimpanzee Trekking activity alongside boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel and a relaxing canoe excursion on Lake Bunyonyi.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Visit to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Depending on your time of arrival, your Gorillas and Chimpanzee Safari will commence with a visit to the Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary situated on a small Island on Lake Victoria. This is a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees, victims of illegal trade and Habitat Destruction. The Islands is now home to over 45 chimpanzees. Enjoy a guided tour of the sanctuary and a close up experience as they come to the boundary for their morning or afternoon feeding.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
With an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver guide and transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving through the beautiful countryside and for most part of the journey, you will be viewing the long horned ankole cattle , banana and tea plantations and as you continue through Kabale – Kigezi region there are highlands and low valleys that are most times cultivated and this beautiful area is often referred to as the “Switzerland” of Africa.
You will arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the late afternoon where you can opt to enjoy some activities including forest walks, visits to a local school or orphanage or Batwa pygmy village and curio shopping. You can also choose to relax and unwind from the long journey

Day 3: First Gorilla Trekking
With an early breakfast at 6:30am, you will transferred to the park headquarters in Bwindi where you will be briefed about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking as one of the most important activities of your Gorillas and Chimpanzee Safari. In the company of your ranger guide, you will be transferred to the head trail for the gorilla group you will be tracking in the gorilla sanctuary. You will walk through the dense rainforest crisscrossed by numerous animal trials and the thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is one of the most memorable experiences on this safari.
After the trek, you will enjoy a packed lunch and enjoy a walking safari through the park from Nkuringo to Buhoma to your accommodation and a rendezvous at the hotel.

Day 4: Second Gorilla Trekking
With an early breakfast, you will transferred to the park headquarters in Buhoma sector for your second gorilla trekking activity to enjoy the activity where you will be briefed about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. You will walk through the dense rainforest crisscrossed by numerous animal trials and the thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is one of the most memorable experiences on this safari.
After the trek, you will enjoy a packed lunch and conduct a Batwa Community Tour as you interact with the first inhabitants of the Bwindi Forest.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following an early breakfast, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through the Ishasha Sector for wildlife drive in the open savannah on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. You will search for the typical tree climbing lions found only in this part of the country. It is impressive to see them lying on the branches of fig trees. We will enjoy a picnic lunch as you enjoy your evening drive in the park

Day 6: Game drive and Boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
On this Gorillas and Chimpanzee Safari, you will start with an early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens’ mile tracks in the park and you may be able to see lions, elephants, Cape buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, spotted hyena, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, topi and a lot of small animals and birds. Later return to the lodge for breakfast and relax and enjoy lunch before you set off for a two hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a good opportunity for birding, as you will see many birds, cormorants, as well as crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffaloes.
Later in the evening, you will be transferred to Fort Portal on a two hours’ drive for dinner and overnight .

Day 7: Chimpanzees Trekking in Kibale National Park
Early morning, you will conduct a nature walk in the forest in search for the chimpanzees as part of the highlights of your Gorillas and Chimpanzee Safari. Kibale Forest National Park has the largest concentration of chimpanzees and other primates in Uganda. This forest is home to large numbers of chimpanzees and other primates. The guide will provide detailed explanations about primates and all the forest’s fauna and flora.
In the afternoon we will go for another enriching walk to the Bigodi swamp which is habitat for variety bird species and some primates and check into your hotel for an evening of rendezvous.

Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a scenic drive from Kibale to Kampala for shopping, crafts and souvenirs from some of the craft markets in Kampala where you can also enjoy a Kampala City tour as you visit the Uganda museum, Bahai Temple, Kasubi tombs.
