Situated in the southern expanse of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the Rushaga sector is part of the Kisoro District, sharing its space with the Nkuringo Region. This region is home to several gorilla families, including Nshongi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye, and Bweza.

Boasting the highest concentration of gorilla families, the Rushaga sector lies between Kabale and Nkuringo, accessible from either Ruhija or Kampala. The undulating hills define the landscape, prompting habituated gorilla families to settle on different hills within the region. Trekkers in Rushaga are treated to breathtaking scenic views, occasionally capturing glimpses of the Virunga ranges in Rwanda and Uganda, featuring Mgahinga, Muhavura, Sabinyo, Karusimbi, and Bisoke.
