If you are an East African resident and interested in gorilla tracking tours, Trek Africa Expeditions can provide you with information on Uganda’s gorilla trekking safaris. Uganda offers different gorilla permit prices for different categories of people to enable them to track the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The price of a gorilla permit for East African residents is different from that of foreign nonresidents.
The East African region is made up of several countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. Southern Sudan has also applied for admission to the East African community to access the political and economic benefits of the region. To be eligible for the discounted East African resident gorilla permit price, you must be a resident of one of the aforementioned countries and hold a work permit. This qualifies you as a foreign resident and enables you to obtain the East African resident gorilla permit in Uganda.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority, a government agency responsible for conserving all wildlife within and outside of conservation areas, issues gorilla permits for tracking mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The Authority sets the price of gorilla permits and ensures that different categories of people can benefit from their resident status.
The East African resident gorilla permit price is set at UGX 250000 and for foreign residents at USD700 per person per trek, allowing foreign residents living and working in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi to benefit from a discount of up to USD 100. These savings can be used to cover other costs associated with a gorilla tour, such as accommodation, meals, and transportation.
The price of a Gorilla Habituation Experience permit/pass is $1,500 for foreign nonresidents, $1,000 for foreign residents in East Africa, and 750,000 UGX for East African citizens.
