Bunyonyi Overland Resort, located in the heart of Lake Bunyonyi, is easily accessible from different parts of Uganda and Rwanda.
If you’re coming from Kampala or Entebbe, you can take private or public transport that will take approximately 8-9 hours. Public buses that cost around USD12 per seat are available to Kabale, Miko, and Kisoro towns. From here, you can hire a motorcycle (Boda bodas) or a special taxi that will cost about USD30 to take you to the resort. Alternatively, you can book a flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro airstrip, and the resort can arrange for a driver to pick you up from there.
For those coming from Kigali, Rwanda, the resort is only 4-5 hours away by car. You will cross the border points of Cyanika or Katuna from Kigali to Uganda before proceeding to the resort. The drive from Kabale and Kisoro towns takes 1-2 hours each way.

If you’re looking for a unique and immersive gorilla encounter, the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a must-do activity. This experience allows you to spend up to 4 hours with the semi-habituated mountain gorilla groups, giving you ample time to observe and appreciate these incredible creatures up close.
Unlike the regular gorilla trekking experience, the Gorilla Habituation Experience only allows a maximum of 4 visitors per group, providing an intimate and personalized experience with the gorillas. You’ll also have the opportunity to help the gorillas get accustomed to human presence, making it easier for future visitors to observe them.
However, it’s important to note that the Gorilla Habituation Experience permit costs USD1500 per person per trek, which is considerably more expensive than regular gorilla trekking permits. We highly recommend booking your permit in advance to ensure availability.
