Exploring the Nkuringo Sector: Home of the Mighty Gorillas
Nestled in the southern part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the Nkuringo sector is home to the largest gorilla family in the southern region. Since its opening in 2004, the sector has welcomed visitors from all over the world to witness the majesty of the gorillas in their natural habitat. The sector was named after an alpha silverback named Nkuringo, who passed away four years later, leaving behind a legacy that lives on.
Meet the Newest Gorilla Group: The Christmas Group
The Christmas group is the latest addition to the Nkuringo sector, comprising six members, including one silverback named Christmas, a black silverback, three females, and two adorable babies. Although the Nkuringo sector is the most strenuous region, trekking through the trail to encounter the gorillas is a rewarding experience you don’t want to miss.
Nkuringo Gorilla Permits: Book in Advance
Currently, the Nkuringo gorilla permits cost USD800 USD and Trek Africa Expeditions is always ready to purchase the permits on your behalf and book your trekking experience in advance since the permits are always on high demand. Plan Your Gorilla Trekking Trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest at the Best Time Possible
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a year-round destination for gorilla trekking, but it’s essential to know that the forest is a tropical rainforest that receives rainfall at any time of the year. If you choose to travel during the rainy seasons, which are March to May and November, you might experience heavy rainfall. However, some lodges offer discounts on accommodation during this period.
If you want to enjoy your gorilla trekking experience at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with the least amount of rainfall and less slippery conditions, the best time to visit is during June to August and December to February. These are the months when the forest receives the lowest amount of rainfall. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to witness these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.
