It’s important to note that during the high season (January, February, July, August, September, and December), permits sell out very quickly. The sector can be reached through different means of transport including road and air transport. If you opt for road transport, you can travel from Kampala or Entebbe, which takes approximately 8-9 hours with stops at the equator and for lunch. The journey is quite enjoyable as there’s a lot to see on the way. You can also drive to Ruhija from Kigali, Rwanda, which is about 4-5 hours’ drive through the Uganda-Rwanda border at Katuna. After passing through Kabale town for lunch, you’ll proceed to Ruhija for your gorilla trip.
For those who prefer air transport, you can take a domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip, which is located in Kanungu district. The flight takes about 2 hours and upon arrival, you can take a 1-hour drive to the Park.
