Day 1: Arrival in Kigali International Airport – Depart for Ruhengeri

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our driver/guide will welcome you, and your day will begin with a complementary tour of Kigali city. Named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt, the first colonial resident governor of Rwanda, Kigali city is surrounded by lush green hills and is often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Explore interesting spots, including the craft market, Gisozi genocide memorial site, and Kigali museum. Afterward, depart for Ruhengeri, the second-largest town in Rwanda, known for its stunning backdrop of the Virunga Mountains. Arrive at your hotel late in the afternoon, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day Two: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, head to the National Park headquarters to meet your ranger guides for the day. Complete the necessary park formalities and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them, you are allowed to spend one hour observing them. This is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on Earth. You’ll get remarkably close to these magnificent giant primates, and as you stare at each other in silence, you’ll be captivated by the moment. Tracking mountain gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. These massive primates are extremely rare, with fewer than 700 remaining today. The trekking may be fairly strenuous, lasting up to six hours or longer at relatively high altitudes. We encourage you to ensure that you are fit and healthy for your own enjoyment. Return to your hotel for lunch, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
