Itinerary: Visiting the Lowland Gorillas in Congo from Kigali

Day 1: Travel from Kigali to Bukavu (DR Congo)

Your driver will pick you up in Kigali and transfer you through the scenic countryside, crossing into the DRC via the Cyangugu (Rwanda-DR Congo) border. Upon arrival in Bukavu, check into Orchids Safari Club and enjoy a relaxing evening by Lake Kivu.

Day 2: Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park

After an early breakfast, head into the park for your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Eastern lowland gorillas are larger and live in bigger family groups compared to mountain gorillas. The trek typically takes 1 to 4 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Spending time with these gentle giants in their natural habitat is a humbling and awe-inspiring experience. In the afternoon, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the day.

Day 3: Return to Kigali
