April 9, 20252-Day Rwenzori Mountain Climbing Adventure
Looking for a short but thrilling mountain trek in Uganda? This 2-Day Rwenzori Mountain Climbing Adventure offers an exciting opportunity to hike the mystical “Mountains of the Moon”—home to Africa’s highest non-volcanic peaks. Rising to 5,109 meters, the Rwenzori Mountains are the tallest in Uganda and the third highest in Africa, stretching across 120 km in length and 65 km in width.
Located within Rwenzori Mountains National Park in western Uganda, this UNESCO World Heritage Site borders the Democratic Republic of Congo and is renowned for its snow-capped peaks, lush forests, rare wildlife, and unique alpine vegetation. The park is home to over 70 mammal species and 217 bird species, including 19 Albertine Rift endemics.
While the 2-day trek doesn’t reach the summit, it offers a magical experience in the lower alpine zones, complete with stunning scenery, waterfalls, forest trails, and rich biodiversity.

Along the way, enjoy sightings of Colobus monkeys, colorful bird species, and unique plant life. You’ll cross the scenic Enock Falls just before reaching Sine Camp, a cozy hut located near a cascading stream.
Day 2: Descend from Sine Camp to Basecamp
After breakfast, take a short detour to revisit Enock Falls before beginning your descent back through the lush forest trail. Keep your eyes peeled for more wildlife, including playful monkeys and vibrant birdlife. The return journey also covers 9.5 km and takes around 5 to 6 hours.

Professional and Knowledgeable Guides
Our team of trained mountain guides is passionate about the Rwenzori’s, with expertise in high-altitude trekking, flora and fauna, first aid, and mountain safety. Most of our guides are from the surrounding Rwenzori region and share incredible stories about the area’s culture and history. They undergo annual refresher training during the off-season (April, May, and November) to stay up to date with the ever-changing mountain environment.
Comfortable, Eco-Friendly Accommodation
During the hike, you’ll stay in simple but cozy huts equipped with bunk beds and mattresses. While private rooms are not available due to the rugged terrain and conservation policies, our huts are designed for comfort and sustainability. Some, like Hunwick’s and Kiharo Camps, have solar power with inverters for charging phones and cameras. Others, including Kiharo and Samalira Camps, also provide basic charging facilities and wood stoves for warmth.
Meal Planning
All meals are freshly prepared by our experienced trek team. We offer a variety of nutritious foods designed to keep your energy levels up throughout the hike. We also cater to dietary restrictions and allergies—just let us know when booking. We recommend bringing your favorite snacks as a boost during long stretches of hiking.
Important Trekking Guidelines
-
Insurance is required: All trekkers must have medical and evacuation insurance covering altitudes above 4,000 meters. No trek will begin without proof of valid insurance.
-
Pack Smart: Use a backpack with a waterproof cover (or line it with polythene) to protect your gear from rain. Even during dry seasons, the Rwenzoris are notoriously wet.
-
Personal Daypack: Carry a small daypack with essentials like a rain jacket, snacks, water bottle, camera, and any personal items you need on the trail.
-
Insect Repellent: Bring a strong repellent to protect against forest insects and mosquitoes.
